Bill McDonald replaces Ray Hadley on 4BC Mornings 

I thought they loved Ray up in Brisbane?

I listened to Ray Hadley every day ,if he is not on 4bc I’m not either.
We don’t want a yes man taking his place we someone who has the guts to open up.

You must be crazy, I do nor like the breakfast crew and no I do not listen, now you flick Hadley, stay away from the coolaide

Fantastic news! Good on you Bill you are much more interesting to listen to than that boring self opinionated Hadley,all we got from him was Sydney Sydney Sydney.I turned him off ages ago now we will get local issues and local talk back from a local presenter.Congratulations Bill, my only question is why did it take 4BC so long to make the change?

4BC, you have lost me as a listener. Should have stuck with Hadley. He calls it as it is. The state of Qld is in dire straits at the moment thanks to the numerous stuff ups of the Labour Govt and Hadley does not hold back with his opinion, which a lot of us here agree with.

Let’s go with the change and see what Bill McDonald has to offer, hope he is authentic, respectful and has honesty,integrity, public accountability and fairness.

What a disaster. Another example of why a TV network should stay away from radio decisions……

I can’t believe that you would replace Ray. He says it how it is. That is why you have such high ratings. I think that you will be disappointed.

Really … I would have thought with 4BC’s (Ch 9 as a whole) Fair and Balanced thinking “cough” ….would have gone with someone like Peter Beattie.

Replace the 3 in the morning, they drive me nuts, I’ll just listen to Ray’s podcast…no commercials

What a crazy decision! Ray is compulsory listening, Bill won’t be.

Ray has rated badly for a while in Brisneyland. Seems he is no longer a good fit and was too Sydney centric.

That’s another reason I won’t listen to 4BC

4BC you have rocks for brains, I hated Saturday mornings when Bill was on the air. No wonder journalist have a bad name they are hopeless on the radio and are full of dribble. The only decent presenter from 5.30am to 7.00pm on 4BH is Sofie Formica she is well informed and can put together an intelligent argument based on facts.

Should have replaced that morning crew with Bill and left Ray on

Worst decision ever made, here we go with good ol Bill with Splinters galore. Whoever made this decision your days are numbered!, as you clearly have no idea about what people are thinking or Feeling. Did the Woke brigade control the room again.

Put him on the morning show. Hadley gives a more wide-ranging commentary on state and federal issues. Missing Neil Breen, should have kept him on mornings.

Ray never takes genuine random talk back callers like John Laws. Only plays silly jingles about himself and gives traffic reports.

The breakfast crew are as boring as watching two snails hump and now you are replacing the most successful radio announcer in Australia. You really are a bunch of tards.

Great news. As much as I liked listening to Ray, I got very tired of the constant truck stuck under the Sydney tunnels and mostly NSW politics. Listening to Bill right now, interesting listening. I wish him all the best.

With this change Resonate Stations, 4K1G Townsville & 4RO Rockhampton that used to take Ray Hadley are now taking 4BC Mornings, 864 Triple M Toowoomba continues to take Ray Hadley from 9-12 (now being the only Queensland Station to do so).

Neil Mitchell is the example of a journalist who has had success sustained success on radio in Melbourne on 3AW in particular. Hence, after saying this, I say to those who say that journalists don’t have success in radio as announces remember, Neil Mitchell.

Bring back Ray

Hadley doesn’t do big numbers in Brisbane. This decision let’s him to concentrate on Sydney and build his ratings there in his final few years before retirement. Bill has a opportunity to build in Brisbane

Why are some of you people so negative about Bill McDonald? The guy is Brisbane born & bred and if you actually listened to his shows in the past, you’d know that he’s not afraid to voice his displeasures, he just does it with less desk thumping than Ray Hadley.

Ray is great in his own way but we do get tired of hearing about NSW politicians, NSW crime reports and Sydney traffic incidents. Not to mention that he is beginning to nosedive in the Brisbane radio ratings.

Sounds like some of you folks would rather have remote control from Sydney than local programming? Beats me!

Historically a staid ABC listener but about a year ago found Ray Hadley on 4BC and must admit I’ve found him more interesting and informative to listen to. Appears to tell it like it is.

What a BAD decision to replace Ray ON 4BC. Without doubt the best announcer in Australia. This decision will come back to bite you.
Thank you for having Greg Carey on Breakfast this week. I moved the dial from ABC to 4BC to listen to Greg, next week back to ABC. The regular three are full of dribble.

What is going on at 4BC at the momenmt is very interesting. They got in a top rating breakfast crew in Laurel Gary and Mark. You can see recently they are using them to cross promote the shock jock segment later on. And now we see Greg Cary replacing them on holidays. I like Greg, but he is the “respectable” shock jock.
4BC should tell the truth and get rid of Laurel, Gary and Mark – and sink into ratings oblivion.
Problem too is that the demographic that listen to 4BC are lousy for advertisers.

Update: 4K1G Townsville and 4RO Rockhampton took Ray Hadley this morning. 4K1G and 4RO only took Bill McDonald from 4BC last week while Ray was away on holidays, Resonate stations (4LM, 4GC, 4LG, 4HI, 4VL, 4ZR, 4SB & Hot Country) still taking 4BC Mornings

Ray mentioned about the Brisbane change briefly by telling listeners to stream on 2GB ‘s Website/App at the start of his show this morning.

Remove the three fools in the morning, they bring nothing but annoyance in the morning – pop Bill in there and keep Ray. The station has been pretty rubbish since Breeny left. Come on we seem to be going backwards in Brisbane rather then forward.

Please, I say again, Please put Bill McDonald on the Breakfast time frame. There are so many people I know, and they know others who listen to 2GB with Ben Fordham and then tune in to 4BC at 9am. In discussions we feel that 4BC needs to return to talk back radio Please There are plenty of other music stations but only one Talk back.

I don’t like the 9am to 12 show on 4bc very weak compare so I stream 2gb in that time frame then turn 4bc for Sophie

I was O/S when the last change to 4BC morning commentator was made. This for me is the last straw! As I could not stand the three breakfast commentators – the dribble etc , so thanks to technology I had already found 2GB’S informative & entertaining commentator. So hop step and a jump- now stay with 2 GB for the rest of the day!
I have two comments:-
A) I was born & lived in Sydney for 1st 35+ years of my life before migrating to SE QLD. When living in Sydney I always listened to talk back radio , along with late night radio.
B) now I am not university educated, just an observer of life with experiences within our family business, our family our social life and friends, just someone who has an enquiring mind and likes to be informed. Over time I was aware that the majority of the popular and entertaining commentators “cut their teeth as it were” in country radio stations. Many of these fellas , yes they were , in the majority males, who are now either retired or sadly deceased, leave the experienced talent pool of “radio on air personalities” very very shallow.
C). With over time the changes in Federal laws enabling consolidation and takeovers of media in all forms this has been detrimental to i) training of radio personal in “country “ radio – to the detriment of rural & regional residents ii) distinct political views being expressed in comparison to the period with multiple players in media – verbal and written media. Now the “experienced pool” is so small, that the smallest problem with on air personals, can and has caused significant problems with the 24 hour schedules. Certainly this was very observant to me during the 2922/2023 Christmas, New Year holiday day period. More so recently, when ill health and or annual holidays has meant a replacement with little experience and more importantly “no perceived onair/communicable personality” !
Boring, boring, boring – for me and others, much station switching- watch TV, play music or read a newspaper or a book.

Yes, such a necessary diversion after years & years of entertainment and education , because of the lack of forethought and planning by the bean counters! Yes, from my observations, it is a very small and shallow pool of experienced onair talented personalities !

I am aware that the recent replacement for Ray H. has sadly experienced a family tragedy. I am sorry for Bill and his family, however I personally was not enamoured with Bill’s style on weekends, so would now be even less likely to tune into 4BC.
Yes I agree in a city the size of Brisbane and large S/E Qld regional spread, listeners need commentators with local knowledge, to keep the politicians both federal and state , and members of all political parties accountable and honest.

With the current world problems, the financial woes of many fellow Australians, talk-back radio is more important than ever. Scarily, with the currently discussed introduction of Federal “misinformation & disinformation “ laws – the quiet Australians need a range of views of current affairs- for the betterment of all Australians, our culture and peaceful future for all.

Hi Bill, Interesting politics in NSW with the Premier making a big song and dance about a few people covering their faces! Need to identify and shame them. Well what about some REAL leadership and identify and show the faces of the young Hoons , regardless of their age who steel cars, rob the elderly and do untold damage to businesses and private property.
