B105’s Stav Davidson reflects on his worst celebrity interviews ahead of radio milestone

Next Thursday – November 20 – Stav Davidson from the Stav, Abby & Matt Breakfast show celebrates 20 years with Brisbane’s B105.

This morning, in the lead up to his radio milestone, Stav reflected on his 20 years’ worth of celebrity interviews, highlighting the worst 3, including an infamous chat that made headlines.

James Blunt:

“The first few times we interviewed him, he was terrible, absolutely awful,” Stav remembers.

“The first time wasn’t his fault. We waited five hours backstage at a sound check at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. This was his first year, and he finally came out and Gabby, my co- host, the first question she asked him, was, ‘So you’re a soldier? How many people have you killed?’”

“That was that interview done. He said you should never ask the soldier how many people he’s killed.”

Avril Lavigne:

“She’s renowned for being terrible, even in her meet and greets backstage, Avril Lavigne just did not want to be in that room.”

“But we were halfway through the interview, and I think we stopped and said, look, if you don’t want to be here, we don’t want to be here either. I think she continued. I think her mum was in the room.”

 Lara Bingle:

“One that stood out, because it did get some press, was our interview with Lara Bingle.”

“She was promoting her reality TV show Being Lara Bingle, which lasted one season and currently stands at a one and a half stars on IMDb. So I feel a little bit vindicated.”

“We did get a headline out of it. The headline read, ‘I’m not Einstein,’ says tearful Lara Bingle after Radio Invasion’. I’ll read some: Lara Bingle lashes out at Brisbane radio station, which she says showed her no respect and brought her to tears following Thursday’s interview with B105. She said it was an invasion. She’s not trying to change the world, and she’s not Einstein. She told a rival radio station that the B105 try-hards attacked her at the interview – and this is my favourite – she said that the interview ‘was just one question after another.’”
