ABC Local Radio’s annual Giveathon returns

Reporter

The annual ABC Gives Giveathon returns this week – on Thursday 13 November – across ABC Local Radio, featuring dedicated coverage of all the activities being held in every state, both on-air and off.

Local teams will once again rally communities to support OzHarvest and The ABC Giving Tree Appeal through much-needed monetary donations.

As the OzHarvest 2025 Community Needs report revealed, food security in 2025 is not just about hunger, it’s about dignity, choices, health and impossible decisions people face to just to survive.

Food has become a luxury, not a necessity, with many unable to afford adequate nutrition.

Giveathon highlights include:

ABC Radio Sydney will give listeners the chance to bid on exclusive experiences with ABC Radio Sydney presenters. Including dinner with Craig Reucassel, bird watching with Chris Bath and a walk or ocean swim with Hamish Macdonald.

ABC Radio Melbourne will hold a special trivia night, with 774 presenters each hosting a table. Listeners will be invited to place bids to win a place on their favourite talent’s team for the night.

ABC Radio Brisbane Breakfast listeners will be able to bid for a chance to join Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan for a special brunch.

ABC Radio Adelaide will broadcast live from the OzHarvest Market in Hindmarsh with special guests, a BBQ breakfast and more.

ABC Radio Perth will invite listeners to jump on a special bike to blend their own smoothie, in return for a donation to OzHarvest.

ABC Radio Darwin Breakfast will kick off the ABC Giveathon encouraging listeners to donate to OzHarvest in order to meet targets across the day. Listeners will also hear practical tips on how to use up leftover food items to reduce food waste.

ABC Radio Hobart and Northern Tasmania will launch the 37th year of The ABC Giving Tree Appeal – Tasmania’s biggest Christmas charity, raising money to help Tasmanians most in need.

Find your station at ABC Local Radio or on the ABC listen app.
