2SER revamps programming

Staff Writer

2SER Sydney has revealed a raft of new programming changes that will commence in May this year.

The changes include a local news service, and for the first time a regular paid Breakfast Program, the job vacancy is advertised here.

2SER has completed a four month process of community consultation, which drove the changes that will launch. The station has received over 40 applications for new programs.

2SER Managing Director Melanie Withnall commented;

“The station takes its role as an educational broadcaster very seriously. News and current affairs hours have increased, with some new specialist talk shows coming on board, as well as more 'magazine-style' programming. There will also be student run programs, and a creative audio, documentary and features show".

"After an exhaustive review process, 2SER is playing to its strengths, and programming staff have found some fresh and innovative voices for Sydney's airwaves. In a changing media landscape, community radio stations need to innovate to stay relevant, especially when they're an educational station like us".

The changes to 2SER will launch in two stages, the majority of programming will launch in early May, and the news service and Breakfast Show to follow.
