Triple M is cricket…

It’s not just Aussie cricketers that have hit England ‘for a six’ this summer; Triple M’s unique cricket coverage has also been rocking the boat back in the ‘old country’.

Its take on cricket coverage is unconventional, mixing comedy and sport with an Ashes commentary team that includes Mick Molloy, James Brayshaw, Kerry O’Keefe and former England test player Isa Guha.

It’s a formula that has worked well the past two summers and, as the Aussies prepare to close out the Ashes series in Sydney, it could be heading to the ‘home’ of cricket.

The England Cricket Board is reportedly looking to launch a similar show in the UK in a bid to connect with a younger generation of cricket lovers.

ECB boss Tom Harrison even spent time in the Triple M broadcast box during Boxing Day Test at the MCG, coming away apparently convinced something similar would work in the UK.

Just how it would work has yet to be revealed but it wouldn’t be the first time the ‘Colonials’ have dared to shake things up in cricket.

A Triple M-esque call of the game in England could be as much as a game-changer as World Series Cricket was back in the 70s.
