Thousands demand refunds as RnB Fridays Melbourne slammed on social media

As the Sydney and Brisbane legs of RnB Fridays Live approach, punters will be hoping that the experience vastly triumphs that of last weekend’s Melbourne event.

The Melbourne leg of Hit Network’s RnB Fridays Live stadium tour has been slammed by hundreds on social media.

The event took place at Marvel Stadium, featuring such acts as Usher, Salt N Pepa and Lil Jon, but punters weren’t happy with the sound at the venue, nor the long breaks between artists, while some called out the general organisation of the event.

“Such shocking sound”, said one fan, who also demanded a refund.

“Worst concert I have ever been to” said another.

Another fan described the “long ass breaks between artists”

Since the event ended, a Facebook group called ‘RnB live Melbourne robbed us… refund our money now‘ has gathered almost 3,000 members, while 845 people have signed a change.org.

“We appreciate the feedback we have received with regards to RNB Fridays Live event that was held at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne on Saturday 10 November,” RnB Fridays Live said in a statement to news.com.au.

“While some of the concerns raised were addressed on the night, we understand that some of our guests remain dissatisfied by their experience. We are currently in conversation with Marvel Stadium with regards to comments we have received about the length of queues and the state of the venue facilities.”

triple j’s Hack program also covered the story on Tuesday, talking with and expert from Choice who provided tips on how to get a refund.

Frontier Touring also gave the following statement to Hack. “On the night of the Melbourne event, our team worked hard to deal with the issues raised by our guests, with considerable success,” the statement read.

“We are, however, incredibly disappointed that the event did not run as smoothly as it has historically or to the high standards our collective businesses believe appropriate.

“We recognise that some of our guests remain dissatisfied by their experience and a small percentage of the 51,000 fans in attendance have since contacted us to express their disappointment.”

Not everyone was completely disappointed though, with several social media posts highlighting Usher’s performance as a redeemer.

“Usher was fkn amazing,” read one tweet. “The end made up for it.”
