Robin, Kip & Corey rally Brisbane kids for anti-bullying superpower squad

KIIS 97.3’s Robin, Kip & Corey have teamed up with Area 51 to host a special Superpower Squad event, bringing together a group of Brisbane children yesterday for an afternoon of fun, friendship and connection while shining a spotlight on the importance of tackling bullying and social isolation.

The event welcomed children who were looking to make new friends and build confidence through shared experiences, giving them the opportunity to connect with peers and for parents to be able to expand their support network to others also navigating the issue of bullying.

The initiative followed months of powerful on-air conversations led by Robin, Kip & Corey about the impact of bullying on young Australians.

Earlier this year, the team helped bring attention to the issue after sharing the story of 11-year-old Brisbane boy Connor, sparking widespread community discussion and prompting questions to the Queensland Education Minister about anti-bullying policies and support for students.

The event was supported by charity partners Bullyproof Australia and Kids Helpline, with Bullyproof ambassador and former professional boxer Jeff Horn attending to meet families and provide support.

Australian Idol contestant Asher Iyer, who has previously spoken about his own experiences with bullying, also performed for attendees and gave hope to the young audience.

Connor attended the event and spent the afternoon meeting new friends and enjoying the activities alongside other children and their families.

Since changing schools, Connor has been thriving, with his story continuing to inspire important conversations around bullying and the need for stronger support systems for young people.

Robin, Kip & Corey said “The response to Connor’s story showed just how many families have been impacted by bullying. We wanted to create something positive that gave kids the chance to connect, have fun and realise they’re not alone. Seeing so many new friendships formed throughout the afternoon was incredibly special.”
