Dave Thornton to depart Fox FM at end of month
How many radio co-hosts is too many?
That’s the question Fox FM will be asking themselves, after morning host Dave Thornton announced he is quitting the show after four years.
In a statement to the Herald Sun, Head of Content for the Hit Network Gemma Fordham confirmed Thornton’s departure, which will take place at the end of the month.
“Thorno let us know a while ago that he wanted to finish breakfast radio,” Fordham told the publication.
“The team has nothing but love for Thorno, we wish him well and hope he enjoys his well deserved sleep ins with his family.”
Melbourne’s top rating FM breakfast show was only rebranded earlier this year to include longtime anchor of the show, Byron Cooke.
It’s unclear whether there will be a replacement for the show, or whether it will operate with the smaller lineup.
Regardless, the reshuffle is good news for the rest of the Melbourne radio scene though, including Nova’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny and Mick Molloy‘s likely replacement on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, Wil Anderson.
2018 is already shaping up to be quite the year.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he turned up on drive… Carrie, Tommy and Dave?
Not surprised. Driving down the Hume back to Melbourne recently I noticed a billboard that said Fifi, Fev, Dave and Byron. Regardless I hope he stays with the network.
Was hoping if anyone left it would be Fifi.
Might be a part of Hamish and Andy’s replacement?
Had a gut feeling that Dave would leave Fox for a while now, he was the reason I held onto Fox for breakfast for so long
I miss Dave. 🙁
