Youth Jam to switch off its radio station and focus on social media & podcasting

Reporter

Isaac Mulcrone started on-air with Youth Jam Radio at the tender age of fifteen, when the station was founded in Perth.

Now, he’s the CEO, tasked with the difficult job of future-proofing the network.

For eight years, Youth Jam Radio has been giving young people a voice, 24/7.

But now, as the cost of living continues to bite, the tough decision has been made to switch off Youth Jam’s radio station.

Instead, Youth Jam will scale up its podcasting and digital media divisions with the aim of continuing to provide young West Aussies with a voice and platform.

Mulcrone (shown in main photo above at his first outside broadcast in 2017) says Youth Jam will increase its social media output, with more emphasis on telling the stories of young people and tackling the issues that matter to them.

“We will be allowing Youth Jam to continue on its evolutionary path and will keep Youth Jam as Perth’s only dedicated youth media network.”

“Future-proofing the network means unburdening ourselves of costs that we can’t afford and doing things that will grow our audience. Our social media pages are growing exponentially at the moment, as is our podcast network.”

“‘Made by youth, for youth’ isn’t just a saying, it’s our reality.”

Every weekday, Youth Jam will be release an array of podcasts: The Luke Sharp Show, The Bella Mclean Show, The Isaac Mulcrone Show and Newsflash at 8am, 2.35pm and 6pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Hannah-Jade Keppler and Declan Scott will upload a podcast at 8am.

Youth Jam is also training-up a group of young broadcasters who will join its podcast line-up soon.

Youth Jam’s 24/7 radio station will continue to broadcast until February 14 at 6pm. The network’s array of podcasts will launch on February 15 at 8am.

Immature and unprofessional culture, no musical point of difference… It’s not like anyone listened to them anyway.
