Hot Tomatoes get cold for a good cause
Last night, the team from 102.9 Hot Tomato experienced just what it’s like to sleep rough in winter as they took part in the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
Bedding down on a cardboard box in the cold for the night essentially turned them into cold tomatoes (Gazpacho, anyone??)

This was the second year of Hot Tomato’s involvement in the Gold Coast fundraiser for St Vinnies, and the first year that Hot Tomato had a team join a host of other Gold Coast CEOs and teams to sleep rough for a good cause.
The afternoon kicked off with the Gold Coast favourites Moyra and Big Trev broadcasting live from Cbus Super stadium, home of the Gold Coast Titans.

Moyra and Big Trev were able to paint a picture for the listeners of what was going to take place that night, and also chat to the team from St Vinnies to find out how the money will be spent locally.
Australian Idol winner Marshall Hamburger chatted with the team about his recent success and performed to the crowd later that night.
It was chilly – and those carboard boxes didn’t offer much in terms of comfort.

102.9 Hot Tomato General Manager Mike Harvey said “Supporting the CEO Sleepout is something Hot Tomato commits to as part of live and local strategy, we believe in keeping all our content local and this allows us to commit resources to great causes such as this.”
Hot Tomato gave extensive coverage to the 2026 Gold Coast CEO Sleepout in the leadup through interviews, and had an OB at the start of event, plus the Hot Tomato team raised $6985 to contribute to the total of $857,000 raised for the Gold Coast region.
The Hot Tomato team are in at work today but all counting down to a good night’s sleep … and will never take their mattress for granted again!
