Young people don’t listen to radio? Tell that to Robert Irwin
Did somebody say young people don’t listen to radio?
Clearly, Robert Irwin didn’t get that memo.
When MIX 92.7 Breakfast hosts Mark Darin and Annabelle ‘A.B’ Brett recently visited Australia Zoo for the opening of the Crikey! Magazine photography exhibit, they caught up with Robert – who revealed that when he’s at home, he puts on the radio … and listens to MIX!

“I’m serious. There is something about listening to the radio at home when you’ve been away for six months,” said the 22 year old, who’s about to return to his hosting duties for I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, less than two months after winning the US version of Dancing With the Stars.
“You’re listening to the same songs over and over again in America … and then, you just come back here, you put on the radio and it’s Crowded House, or it’s the Choirboys, or it’s The Angels, and you’re just like … I’m home.”
“It’s so good.”
MIX FM Head of Content Ben Erbsland says Robert’s comments are a fantastic boost for local radio.
“For someone like Robert Irwin – who’s on the international stage – to come back to the Sunny Coast and talk about his relationship with MIX FM like this is very special.”
“It reiterates the power of local radio and the connection it has to the community. For anyone who loves or works in radio, its words like these that truly are biggest pat on the back.”

As previous photos show, Robert and his family have had a long and deep connection with the Sunny Coast station for many years, with Mark and previous MIX brekky co-host Caroline Hutchinson hosting family birthday celebrations and other events on a regular basis.
And, two decades on from the death of his famous father, Robert continues to proudly uphold the legacy of his wildlife warrior dad Steve.

Annabelle Brett is unstoppable
It’s everything you could possibly want. A content piece, confirmation bias, a celeb endorsement in the echo chamber, and… there we have it. Anecdotal evidence that young people do actually.. you know they don’t watch TV anymore either, right?
