‘Listeners love these shows’: Whooshkaa & Stitcher partner

Staff Writer

The podcasting industry in Australia is currently riding a wave of popularity with a quarter of all Aussies aged 12-to-54 now listening to podcasts every month.

Those consumer figures present an opportunity for local advertisers, who’ll now have more access to some top-tier podcasts out of the US.

Whooshkaa has partnered with Midroll Media, the world’s largest advertising network, also the advertising arm of US podcast giant Stitcher.

Stitcher is responsible for Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations, My Favourite Murder, The Bill Simmons Podcast and Freakonomics Radio.

Whooshkaa CEO Rob Loewenthal is excited by the opportunity the partnership presents.

“Messages spoken and endorsed by a popular host have unbeatable cut-through. Engaged listeners love these shows.

“The take-up of podcasting is growing exponentially, and that’s good news for Whooshkaa’s podcasters and advertisers.”

Stitcher’s chief revenue officer Sarah van Mosel says the deal will be just as rewarding for them.

“Stitcher is thrilled to bring our decade of expertise in the podcasting space to Australia, a market with an active and growing podcast fanbase.

“Whooshkaa is an excellent partner with unparalleled insights into the Australian marketplace and will help to connect new brands and audiences with our roster of some of the biggest names in podcasting.”
