Wave FM’s Travis Winks releases his own book ‘Shattered’
Wave FM presenter and journalist Travis Winks has written his own book, a true story about the mental illness and domestic violence he experienced within his own family.
Shattered tells the story of how a loyal family self-destructed over 67 days, and was written to be an inspiration for others to help them survive the tough times.
His brother was left on life support, his sister was arrested, and his father was shot by police, in this incredible true story.
“It took me six months to write. I clicked into gear following another family tragedy in July 2018,” Winks said.
“On that day I had the wind knocked out of my sails again, by that afternoon I had written the first chapter. I suppose the first words I wrote were like having a vent to my laptop and the venting continued.
“As time went on, writing became my cathartic release, it gave me the chance to grieve.”
Travis Winks has co-hosted the Wave FM 96.5 Breakfast show since 2011, and also worked as a news presenter at the station.
His other roles have included anchor of ESPN’s International Sportscenter programs in the US, and NSW/QLD Sports Director for the Australian Radio Network.
Shattered is now available in bookstores nationally and online.
