Vale Peter Jeppesen: ABC reporter

Staff Writer

Peter Jeppesen has died after a long battle with illness.

The ABC reporter and presenter was 69.

Jeppo is remembered by his colleagues as a passionate and skillful man.

Technical producer Tony Bonnici told the ABC: “He used to cut (audio tape) faster than a teppanyaki chef.”

Producer Helen Richardson agreed and is quoted on the ABC website as saying: "No one fired up with an approaching deadline like Jeppo.”

Jesppesen’s impressive career included debuting on ABC Radio in 1969 and reporting on current affairs, politics and social issues.

He became a senior reporter for current affairs in Melbourne in 1983 and later a journalism teacher at Victoria and Deakin Universities.
