Triple M’s James Lake lends support to The Alfred Hospital Father’s Day appeal

Earlier this year, Triple M Melbourne newsreader James Lake was hit with a ‘fireball of methylated spirits’ in a camping stove accident.

The new dad was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Centre and spent 17-days in hospital recovering from serious burns.

His son Spencer celebrates his first birthday on Father’s Day this Sunday and father and son are lending their support to the hospital’s Give4Dads appeal.

“The care I got from The Alfred means I can look back on the worst few weeks of my life, but have a positive story to tell,” said James.

“And even if it helps just one person in the burns ward realise the pain will fade and they can get back on their feet, then it’s all been worth it.

“So, when the hospital asked if I would like to share my story to help the fundraising campaign, there was no hesitation.”

This year, the hospital is aiming is to raise $800,000 with the funds to be used buying specialised, life-saving equipment. And every dollar raised will be multiplied by four.

The appeal will kick off at 6am on Friday 31 August.
