Triple M’s Mitchell and Michael complete 3,400km outback WA tour

Triple M WA's Mitchell and Michael

Triple M WA co-hosts Mitchell Tinley and Michael Ross have successfully completed a 3,400km trip between the state’s regional hubs of Bunbury and Kununurra in a Tesla electric car.

The duo’s Fast and the Fueless Tour took 11 days to complete, finishing up last Saturday, during which time they broadcast from various stops along the way. They spent roughly five hours a day driving, which was the longest time possible without having the charge the car.

Tinley said the biggest lesson they learned when driving an electric vehicle was to “plan ahead”.

“With many places only having one charge point, wait time can be doubled if you’re not first in line – and that’s assuming there is a charge point,” he said.

“If not, using a normal power outlet is a very slow process for charging an electric vehicle.”

Triple M North West content director Dan Cole said the tour was a great excuse for the pair to make an appearance at the Ord Valley Muster in Kununurra and venture out into their broadcast area.

“When Best IT came on board, they offered us the use of a Tesla to get there and the tour quickly became a great opportunity to go green and promote electric vehicles in regional WA,” he said.

“Listeners got to follow the journey on air which sounded excellent and the social media and video content online was fantastic.”
