triple j’s Hottest 100 of 20 years is ready to go

Staff Writer

Over the past few weeks triple j have been getting listeners to submit their 20 fave songs from the past 20 years of the Hottest 100 so they can build the ultimate list of songs.

During their daytime shifts they've been playing Top 20's from random years but tomorrow and Sunday the full countdown is on.

They have taken over 940,000 votes with more than 200,000 of those taken on the final day of voting, apparently making it the biggest day of voting in Hottest 100 history.

triple j say the most amount of votes came from 22 – 25 year olds, with 25 year olds sending in the most votes of anyone.

Here are some stats about this weekend :-

  • 30 songs were voted for from debut albums
  • 1997 was the year with the most popular songs
  • There are 49 songs from the 1990s (1993 – 1999) and 51 songs from the 2000s (2000 – 2012)

It starts on-air tomorrow at 12pm AEST when they'll air #100 – #51, then Sunday from 12pm AEST triple j will roll out #50 – #1
