Tony Moclair: “I hope to build an enduring rapport on Afternoons”

Reporter

In just a few short months, Tony Moclair’s life (and body clock) will undergo a significant shift, broadcasting from midday instead of midnight.

Radio Today caught up with Tony as he prepares to take over Afternoons on Melbourne’s 3AW from January.

Tony says “I have loved doing Australia Overnight for the last 7 years.”

“My hope is that I build a rapport with the Afternoons audience that is just as enduring, while creating some great radio during daylight hours.”

As to speculation on who’ll be jumping into the Overnights chair, Tony says “While I’m unsure of my replacement, I believe he’s an unemployed man who used to run a large Australian airline.”

“Be nice to him.”

Tony is a top broadcaster and thoroughly deserves that gig and will kick ass! About time he was moved from overnights Byrnes – that was a long road but from here I think he will do exceptionally well.

I sincerely hope Tony’s manager Guido Hatzis will make regular guest appearances to add some extra tang to the lemon butter of the ladies of the Country Women’s Association.

Those Roshebud branch shkippy chicks have been waiting for ages my friend to hear whatsh going down these days in the Fila trackshute pantsh mate! Alright?

Best to luck to the snarling Leprechaun for his mid-dawns gig too. He’s gonna need it.
