The war for JOY continues

Another shot has been fired in the long running battle between rival factions at Melbourne’s gay and lesbian community radio station.

JOY 94.9 founder John Oliver has resigned his membership of the station amid calls for a Special General Meeting, demanding a spill of all board positions.

Interestingly, Oliver has reportedly decided to take no further part in the “Save Joy Campaign”, the group that has been agitating for change.

Oliver and other life members had put their name to a petition calling for the appointment of an interim board amid allegations of bullying, intimidation and tension behind the scenes.

There have also been calls for an independent inquiry into the running of the station and a binding arbitration process between the Board, Management and the change campaigners.

Watch this space for further developments.
