The Price of Paradise

Triple M North Queensland’s Steve ‘Pricey’ Price OAM has put it all on paper with the release of his new book, The Price of Paradise.

The Townsville Triple M 102.3 breakfast host has been involved in radio since he was 17 and has been in Townsville since 1982, hosting breakfast for three decades.

In that time, Pricey visited Aussie diggers deployed overseas, strengthened the shoulders of locals in times of crisis, led fundraising and community missions, performed stunts that would make Survivor contestants cry, and shook hundreds of thousands of hands in friendship.

He’s interviewed celebrities, socialites, film stars and politicians, music makers, brewers, baristas, butchers, builders and all in between – affecting people’s lives in and around NQ for the better.

And now, he has released his 200-page book, The Price of Paradise – a love letter to NQ that officially launched on Sunday.

When asked about the city, he calls it the ‘City Without Strangers,’ and says there’s no other place on the planet he’d rather be. Even though he was born in Melbourne, he said his favourite spot is under a mango tree in North Queensland.

Pricey’s Mother passed away earlier this year, and using the money she gave him, he covered the costs of his book. As a result, Pricey will donate all proceeds to North Queensland charities.

To celebrate the release of his book, Pricey has recorded four ‘Priceless Moments’ from the book in audio form, available on LiSTNR from Monday, December 5.

Be nice if the article told us how we can get a copy of the book – and yes, I’ve googled and checked amazon, booktopia etc.

I worked with Pricey in the naughties and he is genuine – it’s not put on for the radio!

Thanks radio nerd. When we got the info it was before release, so no link to buy it was supplied. Will try to get one now that it is available.
