The Legends with Bevo podcast shows promise on community TV

Bevan ‘Bevo’ Jones of the Legends with Bevo video podcast has had a second wind thanks to positive results on community TV channel C31. 

Speaking with Radio Today at the beginning of the year about the reality of trying to make it in podcasting, Bevo said the challenges he faced with his podcast made him question his goals, but his persistence is now bearing fruit.

After submitting his content to Adelaide’s Channel 44 and Melbourne’s Channel 31, the podcast was picked up and put to air, showcasing his guest list of Olympians, comedians and entertainers. 

As a result, last month, Bevo was notified the Legends with Bevo podcast was averaging an audience of 24,000 on Melbourne’s C31 for the Tuesday night timeslot alone.

His hard work on the podcast has also earned him a nomination for Best Interview Program at the Antenna Awards in Melbourne on October 28th.

Bevo says the results have inspired him to keep persisting.

“The Channel 31 results blew me away, the 24,000 people – that’s just phenomenal. I couldn’t believe that,” he said.

“It’s given me a little bit more motivation to keep cracking in and now knowing that there are people that watch it, I’ve just got to keep producing great content and see what happens.”

“Working, as they say, on the smell of an old oily rag.”

In the future, Bevo aims to keep the momentum and attract new sponsors to support the passion project.

“It’s definitely made me think that I’m heading in the right direction with it, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll get it on your 7mates and 7plus type of channels,” he said.
