Susie O’Neill takes on Nova radio co-host Matt Baseley in the pool

This morning on Nova’s Easter brekky show Mel & Matty with Susie O’Neill, listeners found out the result from Matty and Susie’s swimming race.

What Matty thought was just simple throwaway comment in the studio yesterday turned into a full-blown battle, as he took on the Olympic gold medallist at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.

Matty joked that he’d been wanting to race Susie for some time.

When Susie revealed that she always carries her swimmers in her bag everywhere she goes, it was Game On.

As soon as the show wrapped up, they headed straight for the pool.

Susie generously allowed Matty a 25 metre head start. But, although the race was tight, it wasn’t enough to secure Matty the win, with Susie just pipping him at the post – and Mel Tracina adding some hilarious commentary poolside.
