Spotify removes over 100 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience

Audio sharing platform Spotify has quietly removed over 100 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast after an ongoing saga began from controversial episodes, specifically #1757 with Dr. Robert Malone.

The episode in question caused 270 medical professionals to sign an open petition to remove Joe Rogan from Spotify for spreading vaccine misinformation, prompting musician Neil Young to request that his music be removed in protest.

Following Neil’s bold move, drama ensued and many more voiced their concern, resulting in Joe Rogan releasing a public video on his social media, sort-of apologising for the controversial segments.

The video stated that he would have more balanced guests in the future, as well as disclaimers at the beginning of episodes mentioning Covid-19 stating individuals should consult their physicians if they have concerns. “I want to show all kinds of opinions so that we can all figure out what’s going on,” he said.

Not only did Rogan cause a stir, but Spotify also lost somewhere north of $2 billion in market value as a result.

Fast forward to now and Spotify has silently removed over 100 episodes of the podcast, but the controversial episode featuring Dr. Robert Malone remains.

Bloomberg reported that it was in fact Rogan’s decision to remove the episodes after consulting with Spotify.

Some of the removed guests include comedians Theo Von and Chris D’Elia, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, controvercial Milo Yiannopoulos and writer Tom Segura.

This follows fresh controversy after a video was released showing a montage of Joe Rogan using the N word, which Joe released an apology video for, stating that watching the montage video made him feel “sick”.
