Some EON Magic?
We all know about the dramas surrounding Macquarie Media’s drawn out saga in offloading Magic 2CH in Sydney.
According to The Australian, EON Broadcasting is in the front seat to secure the station after lodging a $5.5 million bid.
EON already owns Mix and Sea FM on the Sunshine Coast with the guy behind it, Glenn Wheatley, also having a stake in the Digital Radio only brand EON Sports in Melbourne.
The Australian also highlights some other players who it claims put in bids including WIN Corp (i98 / C913), Grant Broadcasters and the NSW Council of Churches.
While there is no official word from the Wheatley camp, the announcement is expected next week with the change of ownership finalised by mid-January.
