Six veterans. Six families. Many stories.

In 2015 as we honour a Centenary of Gallipoli, ABC Radio National has created a digital project that explores the impact of the recent battles like Afghanistan.

It follows the lives of six former Australian Defence Force personnel and their families.

“Retrospect enables a new generation of Australian veterans and their families to share their experiences with the nation,” said Michael Mason, Director ABC Radio. “The stories will surprise, move and perhaps challenge community assumptions about the Afghanistan veteran experience. Three years in the making, this collaboration goes to the core of ABC Radio’s place in Australian culture. I’d like to thank our partners for the opportunity to work with them on this significant project. It will have an enduring legacy.”

Retrospective will launch tomorrow and will include a dedicated website, in depth interviews, portraits and never seen before videos even from the frontline with ADF personnel. The landmark series of six powerful radio docos is part of on Earshot, ABC RN’s flagship documentary program.
