Shuffles at ABC Radio Hobart for 2023

ABC Radio Hobart will feature a shuffled lineup in 2023 with Mel Bush moving to Breakfast on Friday and Saturday, Joel Rheinberger moving to Afternoons, Helen Shield hosting Evenings, and Leon Compton returning to the Mornings show.

There is also a new voice on weekends, with reporter and producer Lucie Cutting (pictured) presenting Sundays.

Ryk Goddard will continue hosting Breakfast from Monday to Thursday.

Lucy Breaden is back in the Drive seat from Monday to Thursday, with Kylie Baxter presenting Friday Drive.

ABC Radio Hobart Manager, Samantha Stayner, expects the changes to next year’s lineup to strengthen the already deep connections the station’s presenters had with their communities.

“Helen Shield has incredible warmth and a passion for telling Tasmanian stories, as well as a love of live local music. I know our audience will love joining her on Evenings and I can’t wait to hear what’s in store,” said Stayner.

“We are thrilled to welcome back Leon to Mornings, who is raring to go after a break travelling Australia with his family.”

“A big welcome also to Lucie Cutting who will present Sundays in 2023.”

Lucie has a knack for finding and sharing great stories that reflect the incredible range of life here in our island state and will make great Sunday listening.”

Lucie is already known to local audiences having filled in as a presenter on several ABC Hobart programs over the past few years.

Lucie has experience at the ABC as well as through her work as a writer and MC, including at The Pin, which she co-founded in 2015 as a platform for discussing race, culture and identity in Australia.

The new lineup will start on Monday, 30 January.

Mel, I have so enjoyed you on the early morning shift. I will miss you. I am hard at hearing and your voice is so clear.
