SCA promotes Sam Cavanagh and Jennifer Goggin

Former Editor & Content Director

SCA has restructured its digital audio team, promoting both Sam Cavanagh and Jennifer Goggin.

Cavanagh’s new role is titled head of entertainment and news content – digital audio, while Goggin becomes head of features and special interest content – digital audio.

The two executives will report to both Dave Cameron, SCA’s chief content officer, and Grant Tothill, the head of its podcast operation, PodcastOne Australia.

Cavanagh started at SCA back in 2005 and worked as the executive producer on the highly successful Hamish & Andy show, as well as the national executive producer across the whole company.

He left at the tail end of 2018 to join creative agency Thinkerbell as head of production, but returned less than a year later to become creative director of on-demand audio.

Recently, he’s been the driving force on both The Briefing, a daily news podcast, and comedy offering Matt & Alex All Day Breakfast for PodcastOne. Separately, he also works as executive producer across the TOFOP Podcast Network, which includes TOFOP, Wilosophy, and 2 Guys 1 Cup from Wil Anderson and Charlie Clausen.

He will now be charged with developing and growing the on-demand content slate for SCA and PodcastOne Australia across the culture, comedy and news verticals.

Goggin joined PodcastOne Australia in 2018 from the BBC as content director. She will now focus on specialist audio on-demand features, true crime, health and wellbeing, business and tech, branded content, and emerging on-demand and podcasting categories.

At PodcastOne, she has already acted as executive producer on more than 30 original Australian podcast series, and has been responsible for commissioning and developing original podcast content as well as the development of the podcast production team.

SCA said the experience and expertise of the two executives in their new roles will help to grow SCA’s digital audio capacity, and expand PodcastOne’s output.

Cavanagh said of the new role: “For years now, podcasting has been my side hustle, so I’m excited it is now my main squeeze. PodcastOne is already leading the way in talent-led, premium Australian podcasts, which is just extraordinary.”

Goggin said: “At PodcastOne, we have developed a highly skilled creative podcast team that is trusted by some of Australia’s biggest names. To see SCA investing further into the digital audio space and looking to grow its approach to premium specialty podcasting, is extremely exciting. I’m really looking forward to Sam and I working together to complement each other’s skills in creating compelling audio.”
