Southern Cross Austereo records over 400 entries in 2021 Lab Contest

Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) in-house innovation program The Lab has revealed there were more than 400 entries for this year’s company-wide Lab Contest.

The Lab aims to encourage a culture of innovation and sustainability within SCA, and the contest is held annually to help generate new creative and design ideas for the LiSTNR platform.

Held across a six-week period, this year’s competition saw 424 submissions from 40 offices across Australia, with a panel of experts then selecting a group of 10 finalists to pitch their ideas to The Lab’s leadership group.

Three joint winners were then selected in the categories of Best Idea – Product, Best Idea – Content and Best Idea – Localism. The successful ideas are set to be tested and implemented within coming months.

SCA’s CEO Grant Blackley said that The Lab is a key part of the network’s mission to foster innovation within the company.

“At SCA we are committed to making innovation part of our DNA and are extremely proud of the way our people have leaned into the initiatives of the innovation program so far,” Blackley said.

“The Lab is a fundamental part of our innovation pipeline and I’d like to congratulate both our finalists and winners in this year’s Lab Contest.

“We are excited to bring their ideas to life on LiSTNR as it continues to grow and establish itself as Australia’s audio destination.”
