SCA sales manager Matthew Cooper charged with streaking at NRL game

Southern Cross Austereo employee Matthew Cooper stripped naked and ran onto the field at Sunday’s NRL game between the Paramatta Eels & Wests Tigers.

News Corp reports that Cooper was a guest of the NRL, given a free seat thanks to SCA’s broadcast rights deal with the competition.

In front of more than 24,000 fans, the 2DayFM and Triple M national sales manager ran onto the pitch after hiding behind a Channel 9 camera.

Police attended the scene and issued Cooper with a court attendance notice for “wilful and obscene exposure”, as well as another charge under the pitch invasions act.

The SCA exec will front court next month, and could face jail time as well as a fine up to $12,000.

Cooper reportedly faced up to SCA’s HR department on Monday.

“Bankwest Stadium is assessing security requirements and working with NSW Police, clubs and codes to raise awareness about the impact of pitch invasions to players, staff and officials,” a stadium spokesman told News Corp.

“Pitch invasions put ­player safety at risk and the interruption to play can adversely affect the outcome of the game.”
