SCA confirms programming changes for Hit and Triple M in WA
Some big programming changes are on the way in the West, with SCA confirming that from 20 January 2025, Pete & Kymba, the Mix94.5 Breakfast show, will be heard across the Hit network throughout regional WA.
The Hit network’s regional WA Breakfast show Allan & Carly (main photo) will finish at the end of 2024.
The company says prior to this announcement, Allan Aldworth – who recently became a dad – had notified SCA of his decision to resign from the show and will finish at the end of 2024.
SCA says the Hit Network wishes Allan and his family all the very best.
His on-air partner Carly Portch will be moving across to the Triple M network.
In 2025, Triple M will broadcast two Breakfast shows across regional WA.
After 30 years with the Ms, Cliff Reeve is retiring from radio and will finish at the end of 2024.
SCA says “Triple M acknowledges and thanks Cliff for his extensive contribution to the network and congratulates him on his amazing radio career.”
The new Triple M shows will commence on 13 January 2025.
They will be called Triple M Breakfast with Michael Ross and Angie Ayers and Triple M Breakfast with Robbie Von and Carly Portch.
SCA says these shows will deliver strong and engaging content for these regions.
Triple M will continue to present local shows from each WA regional Triple M station across the Workday, and says this commitment extends the local content in some markets and allows Triple M to continue to create bespoke client responses and maintain its commitment to local content throughout regional WA.
SCA’s Esperance office remains operational. SCA says whilst the local announcer Steven Ozanne is relocating, he will continue to provide three hours of local Esperance content each Workday.
In addition, SCA maintains a local sales representation in Esperance.
SCA also farewells Ian Kennedy, Executive General Manager – Western Australia, who is leaving the company.
An SCA spokesperson says “Ian joined SCA five years ago when SCA acquired Redwave Media. Since that time, Ian has been a central pillar of SCA’s Senior General Management Team. For 18 years prior to that, Ian served in leadership positions at Redwave.”
“Since Ian joined the business, SCA has become a dominant force in regional Western Australian media. SCA sincerely thanks Ian for his innumerable contributions.”
“Following Ian’s departure, Rob Iannazzo has been appointed to the role of Executive General Manager – Western Australia in addition to his existing remit of Adelaide.”
“In his new position, Rob will leverage his extensive audio sales experience to drive the strategic direction of all Western Australian markets, including Perth. He will be supported by Remi Barley who has been promoted to the role of General Manager and Head of Sales – WA Regional.”
… “whilst the local announcer Steven Ozanne is relocating, he will continue to provide three hours of local Esperance content each Workday”? has SCA redefined the word “local”?
Sooo I’m a bit confused. Why replace a hit state show with a metro show and why two triple m shows?
What happens to Abbey for Breakfast on Triple M Goldfields?
The death of regional radio in WA.
Since the Triple M rebrand and then when the wanna bes at Redwave took over they really stuffed some great local stations. This is the Hit FM version now on Triple M, really sad to see the industry close in.
Enjoy your retirement Cliff you definitely deserve it!! Been listening to you since the old Radiowest days!!
@Nerdy! Hasn’t the SAFM breakfast show from Adelaide been networked to Hit Mount Gambier for a while now? The move to network Mix 94.5 brekky from Perth to Regional WA would appear to be all but an extension of that idea.
While I hope this doesn’t happen, at the same time it probably wouldn’t be a major shock if sometime in the next couple of years B105 brekky gets networked to Regional QLD, 2DayFM brekky to Regional NSW/ACT and Fox brekky to Regional Victoria/Hobart.
SCA doing SCA things yet again.
@sydney
I guess it make sense!
But limestone coast was the only regional hit in the state which the most sense.
Will be interesting to hear how Pete & Kymba will handle the different station brands unless Mix94.5 will rebrand to Hit before then?
Ahhhhhh yes, SCA yet again sticking it to the regional listeners. No on the ground people in regional towns, let alone announcers. Management from over east thinking every state and town is the same. No clue and out of touch, radio isn’t what it was unfortunately. Never see our local MMM and HIT people out in the city/town.
