SBS releases the multilingual podcast Australia Explained in five new languages

Australia Explained is tailored for new and recent migrants to the country, about the quirks of Australian culture you might not understand if you haven’t grown up in the country.

Originally created by SBS Arabic24, the series has also been produced in Mandarin and Punjabi.

The five new languages are; FilipinoPersianRussianThai, and Turkish.

There are six episodes in each season, taking a fun look at Aussie slang, beach culture, sport, food, and more.

NITV Radio was also involved with production – each episode includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, and begins with an acknowledgment of country, recognising the Traditional Owners of the lands the podcast was created on.

Season 2 of Australia Explained, focuses on the culture shock experienced by migrants in social spaces, the workplace, school, and more.
