Ex-Hit Network host Sam McGinn lands producer gig for Jase & PJ

Rival radio networks continue to snap up former SCA regional talent, with Hit Riverina Breakfast host Sam McGinn heading south to KIIS 101.1 Melbourne to work on the Jase & PJ show.

Until a few weeks ago, McGinn was a co-host of the Bronte & Sam show in Wagga on the Hit Network, alongside co-host Bronte Langbroek.

SCA, however, axed 19 regional Breakfast shows at the end of August, in favour of state-wide regional Breakfast shows across Hit Network frequencies.

“I’ve always admired Jase & PJ and I love how disturbingly close the whole team are,” McGinn tells Radio Today.

“I hope I can find my place and add value to the show (or at the very least get Jase’s approval).”

Prior to his regional Breakfast gig, McGinn got his start in radio as a sales co-ordinator working in Perth for Southern Cross Austereo.

He started his new role with KIIS 101.1 last week and is replacing Paris Humphrey – also a former Hit Network regional host – who is moving back home to Adelaide.

“My Melburnian mum, Judy, said I’d end up in this city and I had my doubts. But one thing I’ve learnt in life is that mums are always right,” McGinn says.

McGinn isn’t the only former presenter to find work elsewhere in the time since, with Star FM Mackay snapping up ex-Hit Mackay pair Sam & Rach last week. They were the #1 Breakfast show in the region as of the most recent ratings survey.
