Ryan Fitzgerald features on the latest episode of Game Changers

Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald has led many lives. He’s been an AFL footballer and a reality TV star. Now he’s one half of Nova 969’s successful Fitzy and Wippa Breakfast show.

He’s now the subject of the latest episode of the Game Changers: Radio podcast. The hour-long chat with Craig Bruce sees Fitzy detail what makes the show tick and the nature of his on-air partnership with Michael “Wippa” Wipfli that’s lasted seven years.

“We just wanted to make people smile, entertain people. We always had to have one big moment that we thought was piss-funny”

He also reveals himself as a self-confessed bogan and an Adelaide-boy at heart despite putting down well-established roots in Sydney.

“I absolutely adore Sydney and my wife and I and the kids are going to stay in Sydney for as long as we can, but our intentions are always to come back to Adelaide one day”.

Fitzy also admits his humour has been shaped by his years of growing up and playing footy in Adelaide.

While footy may have shaped him, it’s his time working with some radio ‘names’ that have led him to a highly successful career behind the mic and on our TV.
