Rocking the red carpet: Donna Demaio celebrates 200th radio show

She’s a red carpet regular who’s interviewed a host of Hollywood heavyweights, from Clint Eastwood to Charlize Theron.

Veteran journalist and newsreader Donna Demaio dedicated 35 years of her life to the Melbourne radio airwaves. Now, she’s about to chalk up a new and personal milestone – her own 200th radio show.

After more than two decades as 3AW’s arts and entertainment reporter, In 2022, Donna realised her dream to have her own radio program.

Come June 16th 2026, she will produce and present her 200th ‘Sounds Good with Donna Demaio’ program on 88.3 Southern FM.

And whilst she’s yet to decide on whether to have celebratory cupcakes to mark the occasion, congratulatory messages from some of her guests over the years will be aired.

Guests so far include Richard Roxburgh, Curtis Stone, Sammy J, Stephen Curry and Celia Pacquola, with many more to come.

Donna still reads news at various FM stations including Gold FM, K-Rock and Bay FM.

She is the Australian correspondent for Radio NZB Auckland and has been a contributor to The Age online – with a focus on red carpet, travel and food.

Donna’s other high-profile interviews have included  Weird Al Yankovic, Stephen Fry, Gordon Ramsey, Neil Perry, John Travolta, Kurt Russell, Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock and Daniel Craig.

Among her awards is the prestigious Brian White Memorial ACRA for her news coverage of World Economic Forum protests, The Royal Tour and the Formula One Grand Prix.
