Radio Ratings: Spirit Radio tops first ever Broome & Port Hedland survey
The results of the first ever radio ratings survey for WA towns Broome and Port Hedland have been released.
The region’s first official ratings were conducted by CRA provider Xtra Insights, with Red FM coming out on top.
Spirit Radio was the station listened to most, with 36% of respondents.
The other commercial station in the region Red FM, who finished second with 26.4% ahead of triple j (third with 16.4%).
Both stations are run by Redwave Media.
Spirit Radio was also #1 on Breakfast with 34.9% ahead of Red FM with 25%.
“We had some confidence going into this survey following last year’s Geraldton result, having said that this result in the North West is even better than we expected and it’s a great pat on the back to all our content staff involved,” said Redwave Media Network CD Dan Cole.
“Our teams have worked hard with a big focus on local content and also simply allowing the music to play its part and it’s great to see that we have been rewarded in the figures”.
The survey was conducted between May 13 and June 1.
“Regional radio is an important part of the community and it’s good to know that in this connected age, listeners still value radio for providing live and local news and entertainment,” said Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner.
