Paul Kelly’s Triple M ‘Gravy Day’ takeover

December 21st, better known as ‘Gravy Day’ by many Australians, will be one of the days that Paul Kelly takes over the Triple M airwaves nationally for two hours.

It’s been 25 years since Paul Kelly first narrated the story of a prisoner named Joe and his longing to be with family at Christmas time in his hit song ‘How To Make Gravy.’

In the song, the protagonist writes a letter to his family – penned on December 21 – that included a recipe for how to make gravy for Christmas dinner.

Fans of the tune have since coined the date as ‘Gravy Day’ so what better way to celebrate it, then with two hours of Paul Kelly gracing the Triple M airways, and the LiSTNR app, with his ‘Paul Kelly Gravy Day Special.’

If that’s not enough Paul Kelly for your liking, Triple M and the LiSTNR app will also host a two hour national Paul Kelly Christmas Day Special with the great man himself bringing some extra Christmas Day cheer to our morning!

Paul Kelly will cover the following questions about his surprise hit Christmas song:

  • The unique story behind the song
  • How and why he came up with the lyrics
  • The mixed reactions he get from inmates when he performs the song in prisons
  • The outrage he has received from ‘Foodies’ who come up to him at various events – tut tutting his gravy recipe “You don’t put tomato sauce in gravy!”

Triple M’s Paul Kelly ‘Gravy Day’ Special – airs on Tuesday 21st December from Midday to 2pm. Available also on the LiSTNR app.

Triple M’s Paul Kelly Christmas Day Special – airs on Christmas Day, 25th December, from 10am – midday / and then again from 7pm that night. Also available on the LiSTNR app.
