David Oldfield exits 2UE

Staff Writer

David Oldfield has exited 2UE Sydney, as the station continues to refresh its lineup.

Oldfield, who most recently had been hosting the evening show on 2UE has cited family reasons for his departure.

Oldfield said; "To return in 2013 would not have been in the best interests of my wife and children"

"My first priority must be to my family responsibilities, and in particular, to my two very young sons. This means I will not be returning to nights in 2013".

2UE General Manager Chris Parker has said;

"Some might not have always agreed with David Oldfield's opinion, but at least everyone always knew where they stood with him. David departs on an 8% share of all people 10+. This is a great result and is 2.9 share points higher than survey #7 – David leaves his program in good shape".

In the most recent survey, Oldfield's show was the highest rated shift on 2UE, and within 5% of rival 2GB (see here).

2UE will be making an announcement shortly about Oldfield's replacement on nights.
