Now LAFM are aiming for $1m in job hunt

Staff Writer

Late last year, Grant Broadcaster's Hobart station 7HOFM got together with a local employment agency to try and turnaround Hobart's high unemployment rate of 7.7% and raise a million dollars worth of employment. See more here.

Now their sister station in Launceston has rolled out the same initiative to assist their community.

In 3 weeks they have raised over $500,000 worth of employment with their Job Hunt campaign.

The campaign is aimed at introducing the unemployed back into the workforce.

LAFM GM Colin Taylor said:

"The success of this promotion is fantastic. To be able to use our influence to act as a conduit to assist the people of Northern Tasmania source employment is immensely gratifying. Without the support of the ORS Group and our joint sponsors and most importantly the business community of Launceston this promotion would not be at the level it is now.

Over $500,000 worth of work in a couple of weeks…awesome!

We are proud to be able to lend our hand to help drive the unemployment rate in Northern Tassie down, can we get to a million? You bet!"

With another week to go let's hope they can do it.

Good one.
