Nova Brisbane celebrates end of school year with Gold Star promotion

Nova 106.9 has celebrated the end of the school year by finding and honouring Brisbane‘s best primary school teachers.

Over the last two months, Nova’s Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill have been inviting listeners to nominate Primary School teachers who have impacted student lives for the better.

Whether it’s their contribution to a special school project, the bond they share with their students or their dedication to the job, Nova asked their listeners to tell them who has been outstanding this year in the vital world of teaching.

300 teachers were nominated across Brisbane, which were narrowed down to four finalists which then attracted nearly 3000 finalist votes!

The four finalists hailed from all over Brisbane, including Mrs Lucas (Prep) from St Sebastian’s in Yeronga, Mr Firth (STEM Teacher) from Burpengary State School, Miss Tully from St Bernadine’s Regents Park and Mr Miller (Grade 5) from Toowong State School.

Nova sports reporter Mitch Lewis and the Casanovas headed out to each of the schools to announce each finalist. They were all delighted with the acknowledgement, with tears from some of them!

The worthy winner of ‘Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill Teacher of the Year 2022’ was announced on air yesterday with Mr Firth (STEM Teacher) from Burpengary State School, taking out the title! He was overwhelmed and very humbled by the win.

Mr Firth was awarded the coveted crystal ‘Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill Teacher of the Year 2022’ award, $500 to spend at The Iconic thanks to GroupTogether.com, a year subscription to Teach Starter and a stamp to mark all papers that says ‘This paper was marked by Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill’s Teacher of the Year 2022’! The three runners up receive $250 to spend at The Iconic thanks to Grouptogether.com and a year subscription to Teach Starter.

The team at Nova 106.9 was delighted by the huge response to the promotion.
