Nick Cody’s Tenner for Townsville

Staff Writer

As North Queensland picks up the pieces of unprecedented flooding, the generosity of Aussies is helping to heal the wounds.

Nick Cody is among those doing what they can to help the region get back on its feet with the newest member of Triple M Big Breakfast organising a special fundraiser.

On Monday night, he gathered up some of his comedian mates for a night of laughs for Triple M listeners at Brisbane’s XXXX Alehouse and raised $60,000.

“Tenner for Townsville was announced last week on The Big Breakfast and sold out in less than a day, proving that Brisbane people want to laugh and they want to help their fellow Queenslanders,” says Cody.

“The 10 grand raised (and counting) raised on the night, along with $50,000 donated by XXXX means that over $60,000 will go Flood Relief Efforts.”

The comedy night hosted by The Big Breakfast’s Marto, Robin & Nick also included an auction run by The Rush House host and NRL Insider Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin.

“One of the more obscure items up for auction was a pair of Marto’s terry towelling shorts (used) which sparked a bidding war between me and ‘The Raging Bull’ Gordy Tallis.

“Ultimately, they were won by Tallis for $500, which goes to show that some blokes will go to any lengths to help a fellow Queenslander in need.”
