Newcastle Survey 1 released : KOFM now #1

The first survey result for 2013 has been released in Newcastle and KOFM are up 5.8 to now be #1 in the market. David & Tanya have also gained 6.9 and are #1 with 23.3%, 10.2 clear of ABC1233.

KOFM have had a big result. Not only did the 10+ share go up 5.8 to 21.4% and #1 but all demos and key shifts have had a strong result.

18-24’s up 11.9, 40-54 up 11.3 were the two stand out demo results with breakfast, David & Tanya (left), up 6.9 to 23.3% and #1 in Newcastle. Mornings were up 6.6, arvos were up 7.2 and drive up 8.1 – all 3 daytime shifts are also #1.

Weekends were also strong for KOFM, going up 2.5 to 17.4%.

NXFM went down 2.7 to 14.4%, now 2nd. They had a good result 18-24, going up 4.0 to 39.8%. NX lost #1 25-39 to triple j (NX on 26.6%, triple j on 32.8%).

NXFM breakfast has had a couple of changes since the last survey result, with Heath & Normy starting and then they were joined by Heidi Anderson earlier this year. Their first result sees them back 5.2 and 3rd on 12.2%. NXFM mornings were down 1.5 to 13.4%, arvos down 2.6 to 17.3%, drive down 3.4 to 17.3% and nights down 7.1 to 11.3% and went from #1 to #5.

triple j are down 0.6 and remain 3rd in the market on 11.4%. Their main lifts came from 10-17's, up 10.7, and 25-39’s up 9.0 (#1). 18-24’s were down 12.7. Breakfast was down 1.4 with mornings and arvos also down. Drive was up 1.3 and nights up 4.8.

ABC Local Radio is down 0.8 to 10.0% but go from 5th to 4th with that result. They were up 0.7 with 40-54’s, up 1.7 with 55-64’s and down 4.3 with 65+. The breakfast 6am – 9am shift is now #2, up 0.5 to 13.1%. The other shift highlight was nights, now #1 on 17.6%.

2HD dropped back again, down 3.0 to 8.6% and went from 4th to 5th. They are now only slightly ahead of ABC1233 with 65+, now on 19.1% (down 10.2). All shifts were down including Laws who went down 4.0 to 13.2% (3rd).

New FM went up slightly from 8.0% to 8.2% with breakfast up 1.2 to 8.1%, both workday shifts up slightly and drive down 1.6 to 7.7%. New FM were down with 18-24’s (12.0% to 6.5%) and up slightly in the other demos.
