New Geelong radio chapter for Gunners
Geelong Broadcasters has welcomed experienced broadcaster Nikole ‘Gunners’ Gunn to the K rock and bay 93.9 newsroom.
For decades, Gunners has been an integral part of the radio landscape, serving as both a journalist and news director for metro and regional newsrooms, including Triple M, Fox, Nova and Smooth FM.
The recipient of numerous industry accolades, Gunners has also been honoured with an Australian Federal Police Commissioner’s Citation for the award-winning Closing the Net series.
“Our business is proud to honour our commitment to local news and content, and Nikole’s wealth of experience and deep connection to the region make her the ideal fourth member of our news team,” said Geelong Broadcasters General Manager Rachel Patterson.
“This continued investment in quality local journalism allows our stations to focus on the issues most important to Geelong and the Surf Coast.”
“Whilst we are thrilled to welcome Nikole, this is teamed with sadness over the departure of Will Boddington, who is fulfilling a lifelong ambition to work in the sports industry, taking a role with AFL club North Melbourne.”
Nikole will be heard on bay 93.9 Breakfast news, teaming up with Mill and Nic in the Morning.
“I’m really looking forward to coming back to Geelong, where I have strong family roots,” she said.
“Grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles all lived and worked in the area, so it really is like coming home.”
“I’m a news nerd and love talking to people. I think bay 93.9 is going to be great fit.”
“I’m even looking forward to the 3am alarms!”
Gunners commences her new role this Monday, April 28.
