Monkee Davy Jones dies

Davy Jones from the Monkees has died overnight in Florida, aged 66, of a heart attack. His last live performance was only a fortnight ago.

For some listeners, specifically those whose formative years were in the 60s at the peak of the Monkees popularity, this is a significant event. If you are with a radio station who has older listeners as part of your target audience, today is a day when radio has the opportunity to connect emotionally with them.

For those stations it is one of those days where, notwithstanding the music log being prepared 24 hours earlier, or in the case of some regional stations the networked log and program being prepared and perhaps voice-tracked, it is important to amend it to reflect this event.
