Mixing it with the best in GfK Survey 3 for Canberra
Reporter
GfK Survey 3 of 2025 for Canberra sees Mix 106.3 still dominating the airwaves in the nation’s capital.
It remains the top station overall among all people 10+ (-0.1% to a 22.2 share), still well ahead of Hit 104.7 and ABC Canberra, despite a small drop in cume.
The Mix team of Kristen & Nige continue their reign in the Breakfast timeslot (-0.8% to a 22.0 share), six points clear of ABC Canberra – which went up 0.7% to 16.0 and also picked up some good gains in Mornings and Afternoons.
ABC Radio National remains in 3rd on 14.3 points whilst the Hit brekky team of Rod & Gabi are fourth, unchanged on 11.7.

Hi Sarah, it’s actually Radio National that remained in 3rd despite a small drop on 14.3 points. Hit1047’s Rod & Gabi are still in 4th on 11.7 points.
Thank you! Much appreciated. Amended.
Hey RT. I love your site. Just noticed you’ve said Rod & Gabi are 3rd, they are 4th.
Many thanks. Appreciate your kind words, too! Amended.
Pretty much a story of “same old, same old” with Canberra’s ratings. A slight dip for Mix 106.3 but with a 22.3% share far better than anything an individual metropolitan station can gather, they’d hardly be complaining.
Unfortunately, it would not be a major surprise if Rod & Gabi went on a Summer break from Hit 104.7 brekky they don’t return from in 2026.
As for 2CA/2CC, they probably need FM conversions (and I would go as far as suggesting possibly an ownership change) to get out of the ratings cellar.
Some new on-air branding probably wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Afterall, how long have 2CC used those “Talking Canberra” jingles for now?!
@SydneyCityTV I would be surprised if Hit wanted to try a fourth breakfast team in three years. Unfortunately for them, it looks like they’ve been sold a lemon and they’re stuck with it.
Time for some new blood on CC and a new format, obviously what’s there hasn’t worked in years
@Ian Oh, I think they’re about to be making some sweet lemonade, it tastes much better than the Kool-Aid 😉
I’m no ‘expert’, but it feels like the only place in Canberra handing out Kool-Aid is the room where some of these programming decisions have been made.
I genuinely hope 104 finds its footing again, there are more than a few good people working bloody hard behind the scenes.
@Ty Mentemp: I don’t think 2CC have EVER had ratings success under their long running program format of essentially being a Canberra equivalent to 2GB (until a decade or so ago, 2UE)!
The problem is, there appears to be few options for a non-niche formatted AM commercial radio station in the Canberra market. The ABC seem to have the bulk of Canberra’s talk market sewn up, while 2CA’s ratings suggest there’s barely any room for a single music station on AM let alone two.
As for Hit 104.7, I’m not quite sure what the answer is to their woes but doubt it’s in having brekky led by ex-Mix duos as the case has been this year and last. While I’m at it, who’s even been looking after their workday shift/s since Gemma Madoxx’s departure at the end of 2024?
