Mix 106.3 Pack the Bus again for local families this festive season
MIX 106.3, Transport Canberra and local charity Communities at Work are all back on-board this festive season asking Canberrans to help them pack a Transport Canberra bus with essential food and toy items for kids and families in need.
Pack the Bus‘s 2024 campaign saw over 13,500 individual donations, packing the bus several times over.
The bus will be on the streets from next Monday November 24 driving all around the region for the next three weeks collecting much needed items from pre-arranged locations including schools, shopping centres and supermarkets.
This year the bus will be difficult to miss, emblazoned with Christmas scenes from around the ACT along with some naughty elves catching a ride with Santa in the driver’s seat.
Emily Moss, General Manager of amplifyCBR, said:
“Everyone at Mix 106.3 is thrilled to once again partner with the team at Transport Canberra and Communities at Work on this wonderful initiative. The generosity shown by the Canberra and Queanbeyan community since the inception of Pack the Bus in 2021 has been truly remarkable, and we’re hopeful of gathering record donations once again to help those in need this Christmas.”
“This initiative creates opportunity for anybody in the community to contribute to those in need. Receiving a gift or sharing a special meal with family is something many of us take for granted, but rising costs mean even basics can be out of reach without this show of community spirit. It only takes a little generosity to ensure that everybody can have a great Christmas.” said Ian McGlinn, Executive Branch Manager, Transport Canberra Bus Operations.
“Our staff look forward to participating in Pack the Bus each year. More than an opportunity to spread some festive cheer, it’s great to be a part of something that makes a positive difference in the lives of many children and families in need.”
Lesley Jordan, CEO of Communities at Work added:
“We are delighted to once again partner with Mix 106.3 and Transport Canberra for this wonderful Christmas fundraising initiative. Pack the Bus holds a very special place in our hearts, as we witness firsthand the positive impact this fundraising drive has on local families facing hardship. When members of our community visit our Christmas Rooms and are able to take home food and gifts for their loved ones, it restores hope and happiness—made possible by the generosity of Canberra residents and the outstanding support from Pack the Bus and its valued sponsors.”
All of the donations collected will be distributed through Communities at Work. To find out where to leave a toy or non-perishable food donation and help Pack the Bus go to www.mix106.com.au.
