Mick Molloy in the mix as Triple M Melbourne announces new Breakfast show for 2025
SCA has revealed its new Triple M Melbourne Breakfast show line up for 2025, with Mick Molloy, Titus O’Reily, Nick Riewoldt and Rosie Walton at the helm.
The show will be called Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie, with AFL great Riewoldt making his Breakfast radio debut.
O’Reily is Molloy’s long term collaborator and co-host of the Bizarre with Mick Molloy Titus O’Reily podcast.
The new brekky show launches Monday, January 20, 2025.
Of his return to Melbourne radio, Molloy says “I’m excited to be back behind the mic in my hometown, talking about all things Melbourne, with some of my favourite people every morning.”
“There’s a fair chance that the Tigers may come up from time to time; what could possibly go wrong?”
SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron says “The opportunity to ask Mick to return to headline Triple M Melbourne’s new Breakfast show was simply too good to resist, and to hear him back on ‘home turf’ just feels right.”
Molloy has been at the helm of Triple M Sydney Breakfast. A further announcement regarding that show will be made soon.
Has anybody had such a run of average to poor ratings and been given as many opportunities as Mick?
There seems to be a lack of good new talent gracing our radio airways…..
It’s a wonder they haven’t asked:
Eddie, oh he retired
John Laws, oh he retired
Ray Hadley, oh he retired
Well there’s always Mick Molloy, let’s give him another run before he retires too.
I find it fascinating because SCA’s business plan seems to be to pay millions of dollars to announcers who rate poorly
Do Mick or Marty Sheargold really care if their shows do well or not?
They will both take the big money for now then call it quits
Merrick & MG for Sydney?
I can see this being a raging failure. Riewoldt is a strange choice, must be there only for his AFL contacts. O’Reily has been heard recently on 3aw and has been less than entertaining. Never heard of Walton. And as for Molloy, he’ll attract the male bogans and some Richmond supporters. This show will be heavily scripted and formatted with the usual in jokes and smut. It says more about the lack of radio talent in this country.
@jason yes, SCA’s other go-to’s including Marty, hughsey etc
What about a Merrick and Rosso reunion?
I’m happy that Mick and Nick are on breakfast radio together but surely four announcers on the one breakfast show is too much? Poor Rosie wouldn’t get a word in.
Did Mick Molloy even move to Sydney for the last couple of years of Triple M 104.9 breakfast? Or as I suspect, did he mostly phone it in from Melbourne?
Either way, with just 4.6% during Survey #6 (5th of Sydney’s six commercial FM stations, just 0.4% ahead of 2DayFM) some kind of shake-up for 2MMM brekky was probably inevitable regardless.
The big question now, of course: Does another major shake-up at Triple M breakfast (their 4th in about six or seven years) guarantee that Jimmy & Nath will return to 2DayFM brekky in 2025? Because I’d imagine SCA really would like to avoid launching TWO new shows in Sydney early next year, and the revolving door at 104.9 probably did give Hughesy, Ed & Erin a longer lifespan than they otherwise may have received…
It will be a funny show at least as opposed to Marty Sheargold who was as funny as root canal.
Great to hear apart from Rosie being part of the team!
Heard the news today and I’m looking forward to the new show. I’ve always enjoyed Triple M Melbourne radio, including the current Breakfast line up. We’ll be listening.
@Mark there is plenty of radio talent in this country. What this is, is management telling regional announcers “good luck”, provincial announcers “you’re lucky to be here”, and metro talent “put as many zeroes on the cheque as you want”.
Welcome back Mick.
Thankyou MMM
