Mason Tucker joins Nova as host of Late Nights

Former KIIS 101.1 Workday announcer Mason Tucker has joined the Nova Entertainment team as the new late night host for Melbourne.

Tucker will take on the newly created role of late night announcer, manning the station from 10pm – 1am from Monday to Thursday.

Tucker will also provide support to Mel Tracina across Melbourne Operations for the remainder of the year.

Taking to his personal Instagram to share the news, Tucker posted a picture of himself at the Nova 100 office wearing a crew neck with the station’s branding, confirming his impending return to the airwaves.

Nova’s head of programming Ben Latimer welcomed Tucker’s return to radio.

“Mason brings with him an impressive set of skills both on and off the air and is a great addition to the Nova team in Melbourne,” Latimer said.

When reached for comment, Tucker noted his excitement at taking on the new position and working alongside one of his personal radio heroes Smallzy.

“I’ve admired Nova for as long as I can remember,” Tucker said. “It’s gonna be so much fun working here.

“And you know what? We all have that one announcer we grew up with, the one that really gets you invested in the industry. For me it’s Smallzy. I love him and his style. And now the guys gonna be hooking to my show?! How cool!”

Last December, Tucker departed his role as Workday announcer with KIIS 101.1 after the station decided not to renew his contract, telling Radio Today that he’d be working hard to keep himself in the industry.

This is not to be taken as a criticism of RT or Mason but this article kind of reads like a Betoota Advocate post!

Excellent to see a radio station with brains, to pick up a potentially great young talent. Too many old farts on radio and don’t listen to KIIS now Maso’s gone.

Wise move Maso with Nova climbing in the ratings and KIIS going backwards, good luck in whatever roll you fulfill, as it’s well deserved.
