Marty Sheargold to drive NSW and Qld listeners home as Triple M announces revamped 2025 Drive show line up
The Rush Hour with JB & Billy is being expanded to South Australia and WA – while Marty Sheargold will now drive NSW and Queensland listeners home – as Triple M unveils its new Drive show line up for 2025.
Sheargold will continue to be heard nationally across the Triple M network, from 3-4pm, Monday to Friday.
Then, in Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and all Triple M regional markets in New South Wales and Queensland, The Marty Sheargold Show will continue across the Drive shift from 4-6pm.

Triple M’s Rush Hour with JB & Billy will now be heard from 4-6 p.m Monday to Friday across Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth and Triple M’s regional stations in the southern states.
The new Triple M line up for 2025 marks the end of the Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth Rush Hour shows.
It comes just days after Queensland’s Rush Hour show – hosted by Annabelle ‘A.B’ Brett and Elliott Lovejoy – achieved its first #1 result in the latest Townsville survey, up 2.9 to 21.4.
Last month came the news that Adelaide’s top rating Rush Hour drive show – hosted by Andrew Jarman, Bernie Vince and Greg Blewett – would be winding up, along with the Perth show, which had Andrew Embley and Katie Lamb at the helm.
SCA says “These shows have featured an exceptional group of broadcasters and Triple M acknowledges the hard work and commitment that the teams have dedicated over several years.”
Sheargold says he looks forward to returning to the Drive shift for NSW and Queensland listeners in 2025 and giving them the extended version of the show.
“I also wanted to thank the teams from the Sydney, Brisbane/Gold Coast and Queensland Rush Hour shows who have all had amazing stints and been hugely entertaining. I’m committed to carrying on their legacies.”
James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless said “We’re excited that our live show will now be extended for our listeners in South and Western Australia, which are legendary footy states with an incredible history of successes.”
“We also want to acknowledge the Adelaide and Perth Rush Hour teams, many of whom are great mates, and congratulate them on their shows. We don’t underestimate the opportunity we have been given and we are focused on creating a show that honours them and their listeners.”
SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron also acknowledged the teams these shows will be replacing.
“We sincerely thank our existing state Rush Hour shows for their hard work and commitment over the last few years and look forward to a different approach nationally in 2025 with more exciting announcements to come soon.”
The 2025 Triple M Drive line-up commences across the Triple M network in January 2025.
Nice work SCA. Replace No. 1 rating shows across the States with Melbourne based / biased rubbish. When will radio learn that the listeners left realy don’t care for Networked shows at the expense of local talent / knowledge. Look at the slow death approach that is happening to stations like 6PR, 5AA etc. Its like the death of a thousand cuts. If you lose the audience it is pretty hard to get them back. You might own the Stations but the listeners own you.
Adelaide’s top rating Rush Hour drive show in Adelaide?
I think you’ll find they are #3 in the Adelaide market behind both Mix and Nova.
So glad I can listen to Rebel FM here in SEQ. Triple M just isn’t for me. So much talking, sport and lame overflogged music. Thank God for Rebel FM.
So glad I’ve got Rebel FM to listen to here in SEQ. Triple M just isn’t for me. Just too much talk, sport and over-flogged repetitive music. Thank God for Rebel FM.
It is a very expensive way to achieve a 5% share in Sydney
I think the show will be a bit boring because it will just be Marty talking about how much he hates Trump everyday
Amazing. Sheargold is rewarded with a vast new audience after his Melbourne breakfast debacle and Brayshaw and Brownless get the same for their moronic program at the expense of a lot if good, talented and successful people.
Add to that with the mess that is the Triple M brand these days – is it rock, hits and memories, talk or what across all its markets? – and you have to wonder what on earth is going on at SCA?
When will city radio stop paying such large amounts of money to the city radio stars which drains the company of money and makes them make these decisions to strip the regional areas of their hard-working and incredibly underpaid announces who are providing a vital services to regional areas. This is breaking my heart, it’s the Joni Mitchell song. They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot. We are losing radio before our very eyes and we will never gain it back all because of greed. Regional radio stars earn less than teachers work twice as hard for their communities and they’re being rewarded by losing their jobs. I’m really upset by this news and continue to be every time they syndicate another show rest in peace radio.
Can’t say I’m particularly surprised that Triple M drive is being further networked in 2025, although it’s interesting how they haven’t (at least yet) gone all the way by running the extended Marty Sheargold show everywhere.
If ARN are smart, surely they’ll take advantage of all this by running some “live and local” promotion for their fairly well rating but not really advertised local drive shows on the Pure Gold stations in Sydney & Melbourne?
Certainly, I know WSFM are live (or at least live-ish) on weekday afternoon drive and assume Gold 104.3 would be similar. Granted that J&A and Christian O’Connell are the station/network flagships but surely it wouldn’t cost too much to give Steve Fitton and Dave “Higgo” Higgins some more promotional love on-air at least?
Not too sure how things are at drive in Adelaide & Perth, however Brisbane will have to rely on AM talkback if they want live content on commercial radio after 3pm on weekdays in 2025. Absolutely ridiculous for the nation’s third largest radio market, and one that is six months behind the Southern states for half the year!
What about AB and Elliot? They are way better than Marty Sheargold.
Swing, and I don’t say this lightly, a miss.
Pretty sure AB is on maternity leave too still which makes this all the more disgusting
“It wasn’t broke, so I fixed it.”

Another sad day in radio as SCA slashes more localism. They should have just sold off their radio assets when they had the chance, they clearly care about shareholders more than listeners.
Listen to the radio all day and turn it off at 4pm for 2 hrs.
Not anymore, bring on Marty and the team
A Melbourne bloke broadcasting from Melbourne to NSW and QLD only? A bold move, especially considering the content leans more towards “poo-related anecdotes” or “guess how old the celebrity is” gear than pressing regional issues.
Not knocking Marty, he’s a funny lad. But the generic, cookie-cutter content is a bit of a snoozefest.
Probs cheaper to offshore the whole network (like they’re doing with traffic), turn the studio lights off and sell the Dr Dan memorabilia on ebay.
Well Brisbane and SEQ will turn off. They already do from 3 to 4pm. Sheargold is so boring and all we get is Melbourne jokes. I bet he doesn’t even know what is Rugby League. Qld audiences are very parochial and love RL especially with 3 teams in the SEQ area. Already stopped listening to the morning breakfast as I do not wish to know what is happening in a certain family. New stations to be programmed into the car radio.
Triple M you certainly know how to turn off an audience.
Worst decision ever. Why should regional areas get lumbered with syndicated shows from another state? And I wouldn’t even call TMSS a “show”…. you hardly ever hear from the “host”, just all the other people that are with him; and most of the time you have no idea what they are going on about.
Definitely going to lose a listener here.
