Townsville’s POWER100 has today paid a heartfelt tribute to its much-loved Weekday mornings host Karina ‘KB’ Bennett as she celebrates her 50th birthday.

From community radio beginnings through to MIX 106.3, ZINC and SEA FM, ARN Regional Content Director Stu Tolan says KB has found her true home at POWER 100, having become one of the most recognisable and respected voices on the Townsville airwaves.

“Through cyclones, floods, celebrations and challenges, you’ve been there with North Queensland every step of the way. You’ve helped tell the stories of our region, connected with listeners through the good times and the tough times, and become one of the most recognisable and respected voices in Townsville radio.”

“Whether you’re talking family, life on the water, fishing, a cold VB, the Blues or great rock music, you’ve always been authentically you. That’s what makes you so special.”

“Funny. Kind. Genuine. Passionate. Proudly Townsville through and through.”

“You’ve seen it all in this industry and remain one of the very best in the business. Your passion for radio, your connection to the community and your ability to make people feel like they’re talking to a friend are truly rare.

And most recently, you’ve taken on our AM Network Afternoons. Judging by the first round of survey results, you’ve already taken the network to a whole new level.”

“On behalf of your POWER 100 family & ARN thank you for everything you’ve given to this region, this station and the people you’ve worked alongside over the years.”
