Malcolm Blight to host FIVEaa Sportsday, 1116 SEN announces drive lineup

In a huge coup for South Australian station FIVEaa, Adelaide Crows legend Malcolm Blight will return to his home city in 2018 for a new role with the broadcaster.

He’s set to host FIVEaa and Crocmedia’s nightly Sportsday SA show alongside Kane Cornes, kicking off on January 15.

The show will broadcast at 6pm on FIVEaa and 5pm through regional South Australian GRANT broadcasters.

“With lots of friends and family still here, I’ve been looking to make the move home and this felt like just the right opportunity at the right time,” Blight said.

“It’ll be a first for me being a regular on radio but I am looking forward to talking footy alongside Kane to a local crowd.”

Having spent two decades away, Crocmedia CEO Craig Hutchinson is excited to welcome Blight back home to Adelaide.

“It’s hard to imagine anyone who has made a bigger imprint on the game in South Australia than Blight and pairing him with Kane, a 300-game great at Port Adelaide and silver bullet media star, is extremely exciting,” said Hutchinson.

For their part, Melbourne’s home of footy 1116 SEN have revealed that Kevin Bartlett and Dr Turf will join forces in 2018 to host the station’s arvo show.

From 3pm weekdays, close friends KB and The Doc will co-host the drive slot, while Channel 7 Front Bar identity Andrew Maher will return to host the lunch slot.

“Kevin is the heartbeat of our station, a football and industry icon, and has beenfront and centre of our growth for over a decade,” said station general manager Cathy Thomas.

“Prior to joining us, he and Doc worked together and have always been close friends and enjoy great on-air chemistry.”

“The Doc’s quirkiness and antagonism has always fascinated me and the chance to embrace a new challenge with him really appealed,” added Bartlett.

“We can only assume it’s part of a new youth policy at the station! On a serious note, it’s clearly going to be a big growth year for SEN and the bigger picture looks really exciting with a proposed merger opening up all sorts of opportunities.”

To sack Ox and Marco and re-hire Andy Maher is baffling.
